The Bible is the only book in the world that will read YOU while you read it. Why? Hebrews 4:12 tells us why, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires” (NLT). The Word of God is ALIVE! It’s the only book accessible to everyone, with the Author always present, no matter where you are. SO what does that mean for us? Well, the more we open our Bible and dig in the more we will know God, grow closer to Him, and begin to be transformed by His Spirit. Any Christian that never opens their Bible is only starving themselves. And when your spirit isn’t fed, and your flesh is, you won’t be much of an influence for God’s kingdom. Today was the first day of school. It’s the marker of a new beginning, a new school year, and a whole bunch of new things for our family! One thing I know is the Lord loves new beginnings! Redemption is a new beginning written into the grand narrative of God’s story! The Lord says in Zechariah 4:10, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (NLT) As you enter into a season of new beginnings, cling to the promise that God loves to write new stories, new blessings, and promises to be with you through every step. As our boys enter into a new beginning, I’m clinging to the promise that He is with them wherever they go, and that includes the hallways of their school, their classrooms, and anywhere else their feet treads. He’s also in the new beginning that is forming for my wife and I as we help our boys navigate their new beginning. Today the Lord just reminded me to not despise small beginnings, the steps that our boys are taking into a new grade, into a new year, and that through these small steps He has them in His hands, and He has great things planned for them! Jesus chose us. Let that sink in. I wrote this spoken word I shared last night at Eagle Rock Camp to help illustrate the reality that we are chosen, we are His, that we are who He says we are. It’s titled “Chosen” - “In the silence of the night, where lies echo beneath the stars, I hear a voice calling, echoing from afar. A voice that knows my name, etched in eternity, Chosen by the Creator, the One who set me free. Before the dawn of time, before the light first broke, He wove my being with purpose, with words of love He spoke. In the secret place, where only He could see, He chose me for His glory, He chose me to be free. Not by my might, not by my worth or deed, But by His boundless mercy, His grace is all I need. In a world that seeks to define and cast aside, He called me precious, He chose me as His bride. When doubts assail, and shadows start to creep, I remember His promise, His love is mine to keep. For He has written my name upon His hands, In the Book of Life, where His eternal plan stands. I am not a mistake, not an afterthought or chance, I am crafted with purpose, in His divine romance. He saw my brokenness, the flaws I try to hide, Yet in His perfect love, He chose me to abide. He called me out of darkness into His glorious light, To be a beacon of hope, to shine ever so bright. In my weakness, His strength is made known, For in His love and mercy, I am never alone. Chosen to reflect His heart, to live a life of grace, To run the race with endurance, to seek His holy face. In the valleys and the mountains, through joy and through pain, I am His beloved, chosen in His name. So I stand here today, with a heart full of praise, Thankful for His love, for His eternal ways. I am chosen, not forsaken, His truth I will proclaim, Forever loved by God, forever in His name. In His story, I find my place, a chapter of His design, Chosen by the King of Kings, His love forever mine. Years ago I got hurt by the church…. Church hurt hurts differently, can you relate? I will spare the details of how and why I got hurt by the church because that won’t bring any edification to the Body. But what happened one day in Walmart BECAUSE of that church hurt changed everything for me! It was a Sunday. The church hurt was like a fresh wound. It still hurt pretty bad. My wife and I ran into a friend in the produce department. He knew what had happened. He DIDN’T ask how or why, but what he DID ask encouraged me so much I still reflect on this moment years later…. He simply asked, “Can I pray for you?” I thought, “Sure,” thinking he would be praying for us when he prayed later on. Nope. He took our hands, eyes wide open, and began praying for us RIGHT THERE as dozens of people walked all around us. He prayed FOR us not caring about what others thought. In that moment he was not only the BEST kind of friend, he was being the hands and feet of JESUS in that produce department at Walmart! When someone asks you to pray for them do you stop and pray or do you say “I will” only to forget later? I’m guilty of this. But what happened that day in Walmart reminds me of the power of prayer. It left an impact on me and it’s been several years now. Not only that, I FELT the Lord’s presence. God loves and honors obedience! Could it be we are missing out on His blessings because of our disobedience to pray IN THE MOMENT? I think so. I want to be a man after God’s heart who PRAYS now because I know I can become distracted only to forget later. The DBG Summit at SEU was life changing! So thankful for this weekend! Words really don’t do it justice. It was a sweet time seeking Jesus and praying for revival in ourselves and our world. We made some new friends and got to hang out with some others (@chucketate we finally got that TikTok)! I can’t wait for DBG 2024!!! Some exciting things coming!

After an eventful day/night..we are home with Banner. We didn’t notice until he had lost weight that he has something called Pectus Excavatum- basically where his chest caves in the middle. His is deep. Making everything look worse (something that later on if needed can be fixed with surgery.) Doctors got his breathing regulated and the fluid on his lungs should clear up on its own. 🙌 Thank you to everyone who prayed for our boy (and us)!
